2021:
A YEAR IN REVIEW

Green Goderich has been busy this year, check out what we have completed in 2021:
  • Aquatic Species-at-Rish in the Great Lakes talk with Kat Lucas from the Toronto Zoo in January
  • Saugeen Ojibway Nation & the Environment talk with Elisha Jones and Kathleen Ryan from the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Environment Office in March
  • Shoreline Protection talk with Shannon Millar from the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority in May
  • Farmer's Market and Zehrs community outreach and fundraising for environmental projects
  • Plant-Based Eating talk with Candace Cunningham of the Maitland Valley Family Health Team and Alex Robinson, our very own Core member in September
  • Hosted two virtual movie nights to bring together members during COVID-19 and discuss environmental issues
  • New Core members: Erin Norsworthy, Communications Co-Lead (who has since left for other opportunities), John Meyers as Stewardship Lead, and Becky Adams as Environmental Representative
  • Proposed and discussed a tree planting project with Goderich Town Council, which culminated in the planting of 10 mature, native trees at Victoria Park
  • Added a land acknowledgement to our website
  • Had a booth at the Goderich Co-op Gallery alongside local recycled content artist Betty Hendriks
  • Participated in an interview by Climate Legacy
  • Hosted A Friendlier Company webinar for local restaurants to potentially participate in their program
  • Promoted the Just Transition federal petition
  • Creation of additional YouTube educational videos: How to Reduce Food Waste, How to Eat More Plants
  • Received the Spirit of Success Compass Minerals Environmental and Sustainability Award
