We are very excited about a new project we've been working on with the Town of Goderich, the Environmental Action Committee and the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. We have planted ten native trees in Victoria Park, in coordination with the Parks Department. We hope this would be the first step in increasing the number of trees in town.
Adding more trees to this open location will not only increase the amount of shade for these users but trees also have substantial health, environmental, and financial benefits (air quality improvements, enhanced attractiveness, stormwater floor retention, carbon sequestration, and so on).
We hope to have larger tree planting events in the future when we can all be planting trees together as a group without any restrictions!
We are looking for donations that will go directly to projects such as this. If you are feeling generous, please email us and we can coordinate a donation pick-up as either a cheque or cash. If you cannot donate at this time, we completely understand.
Let's get together and put down some deep roots in a shady space with long-lasting benefits!
