Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Christmas Bird Count in our area since the 1930's!

Every December, people all over the world participate in this citizen science project, which is one of the world's largest sets of wildlife survey data.

The Goderich date for 2023 will be:
Saturday, December 16
 This event involves birders going out in teams to specific sections within a 24-km circle around our area (see map above). This could be done at your own backyard feeder or at a local trail or shoreline. Each team identifies and counts as many birds as possible in a single day on a designated data sheet. The count's organizers then collect the data sheets and report the data back to Birds Canada. The results are used by biologists and planners to assess the distribution of birds and population trends and to know where to protect these birds and their habitats!
